Not wild about Larry

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tropical_Cyclone_Larry

Sparing a thought today for the friends and family around Cairns who
will be
losing roofs and the like. I've heard of two lost roller doors and a
skylight so far and this is in town, not even getting the brunt of the
storm.
A lot of people have lost power, there's been evacuations, and it's not
over
yet...

Pretty wild storm and I was no where near the center of it in Cairns. Around Cairns it's mostly all tree damage, fences, signs and small things like that. Biggest problem is probably all of the tree branches that have brought down powerlines.

If you lived anywhere south of Gordonvale or on the tablelands and had an old style house built around the middle of last century then chances are you got some house damage. Improved building codes have saved a hell of alot of people from damage but those are the houses you dont see on the TV.

Had a powerline down out the front of my place which was repaired today so yay! power again! Its pretty scarey how reliant on power I am. No power for 3days and I've been going crazy.

Yeah I know a lot of places lost power. My folks have a rental property in Edmonton that just got tree damage fortunately.
